Ink Review: Gingerbread by Diamine

 

Gingerbread by Diamine. This is from their Blue Inkvent series (Year 1). 

This ink flows well, no difficulties. 

This is a really cool ink. 

It's a pretty color, and it shades nicely. But the cool thing is that when it dries, it becomes very matte. Like gingerbread. It's a great effect. This ink matches its name. <3

Ink Review: Brunch Date by Colorverse

 

Brunch Date by Colorverse. This is one of their "Joy in the Ordinary" colors. 

This ink just doesn't flow very well. I find myself using a lot of pressure and it's not fun. 

I like this color, and I like brunch, and I love the idea of Joy in the Ordinary. It makes me all squishy and sentimental. But the ink doesn't really shade, and it doesn't flow well for me. If you're using it, consider adding White Lightning. 

If you want this sort of color, I'd go with Colorverse's Sea of Europa. Way better.

Ink Review: Spring Mountain Basil by Otto Hutt

 

Spring Mountain Basil, by Otto Hutt. 

This is a nice ink and flowed well. No issues. 

This ink is annoying to get in the US - it's a German ink (surprise surprise) and most ink places in the US don't have it. You may need to import it if you want it. 

You probably do want it. I did not want to like this ink because the sample was expensive (the bottle of ink isn't too bad), but the truth is, it's very pretty. It's light but not too light to be easily read, it's pleasant and a real green but not too bright. 

I think greens are hard to get right. They got it right.

Ink Review: Dusted Truffle by Diamine (Green Inkvent)

 

Dusted Truffle, by Diamine. This was one of their Inkvent colors from the "green" year (3rd year). 

The ink flows decently, though not amazing. You can tell it's not juicy. But it wasn't a problem. 

I loved this color from the moment I first laid eyes on it. It's subtle and dusty and sparkly and magic. It's just like a dusted truffle. I love it when ink names fit so perfectly. 

8/10. 

Ink Review: Pearlescent Orange by Private Reserve

 

Pearlescent Orange by Private Reserve. 

...sorry about the dot in the middle. I am a flawed human being. 

This ink doesn't flow super well. It's not the worst but it's not great. Private Reserve inks tend not to behave the best in my experience. 

It's a pretty color, but it doesn't shade really - it mostly shines. 4/10. 

Ink Review: Queen Allium by Ferris Wheel Press

 

Queen Allium, by Ferris Wheel Press. Surprisingly, This is not an ink from their FerriTale series. It's from their "everyday" ink series. I have no idea how an ink called Queen Allium is "everyday". Though I guess it's every day for Queen Allium herself.

The ink flows okay. It's not going to win awards but it didn't make me tear my hair out. 

Queen Allium is gorgeous. It's The first Ferris Wheel Press ink I ever tried and it's the reason I am going to try so many more Ferris Wheel Press inks. 

It's also discontinued. Grab it quick while you still can. 

Ink Review: Prussian Blue by Diamine

 

Prussian Blue, by Diamine. 

The ink flows well. It's Diamine. 

I like this subtle blue-grey. It's just powdery enough to be interesting and just blue enough to still be pretty. It doesn't make my heart leap. But it makes my heart sit in a calm space and read a book I've already read and know I love.  

Every time I try a new Diamine ink I am like "...why do we have all those other ink companies when Diamine is way cheaper and also better?"

Yet I buy the other inks anyway.
